Prince’s Grant

Located about 28 kilometres from Ballito is the coastal town of Prince’s Grant. This town is home to one of South Africa’s best-ranked golf courses. The golf course is renowned for its immaculate natural beauty and stunning geography. Designed by Peter Matkovich, this 18-hole course is laid out over 4 ridgelines with breath-taking views of the Indian Ocean.

Zimbali Country Club

As an iconic brand synonymous with coastal luxury, Zimbali boasts one of KwaZulu-Natal’s best golf courses. Designed by Tom Weiskopf, the course expands across a generous portion of Zimbali and encompasses amazing natural elements including wetlands. Here you can tee off against the backdrop of the Indian Ocean to the sounds of gentle waves and birdsong. This course is fairly challenging with occasional water hazards and some wooded portions.

Mount Edgecombe Country Club

Mount Edgecombe Country Club is the home of 2 championship golf courses, known as The Woods and The Lakes. Named after the exquisite natural facets that make up the estate, each course is sensitively designed around nature. Both courses are tranquil and safe, The Woods (course 1) has a parkland layout. This course has 4 sets of tees and is suited to golfers of all levels. Course 2, The Lakes was opened in 1997. Its design differs from course 1 and encompasses bush and water hazards. This course has the well-known Watershed restaurant located along the Pani Dam, perfect for watching aquatic birds and spotting Fish Eagles. 

Durban Country Club

Located just off the M4 highway across the road from the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium, is one of the top 100 golf courses in the world. The Durban Country Club boasts the 3rd best 3rd hold in the world. Designed by George Waterman, The Durban Country Club has hosted the South African Open 17 times as well as the Volvo Championships in 2013 and 2014. The signature 3rd hole is a 468-metre par 5 with a narrow fairway which is lined with bush.

Cotswold Downs

Nestled within the Cotswold Downs residential estate in Hillcrest is the Cotswold Downs golf course. This is a Peter Matkovich course which has been designed to USGA specifications. The 18-hole championship course is a parkland course that includes varied fairways, bent grass greens, and natural waterways. Perennially lush due to the variety of grasses and the weather, the fairway also includes dams and wetlands where many species of birds can be found. This course will challenge experienced and beginner golfers alike.
